Water birch bark and re-purposed steel wall light

I found this piece of water birch bark along a remote section of the Deschutes river a few months ago. While I had to hollow out the decayed inner wood, the bark was left pretty well intact. Then it was off to find the perfect piece of metal to compliment the colors and aged look of the bark. Courtesy of a local scrap metal yard and their endless piles of rusting metal I found that ideal piece. A little finagling here and there and the end result was this...
