Money Boxes

I came across a couple of once very popular money boxes and thought they'd make great lights. So I cleaned them up, dug through my ever expanding containers of small odds and ends and lo and behold, I was right, they turned out great. I'd still like to know a little history about them, as I run across them quite frequently. I guess a little metal box with a lock on it was all you needed back in the good ol' days. I also found another children's tool box, this time it was a tiny one, but the graphics on it are so cool. It ended up in quite the colorful combination, with a blue/green electrical line insulator topping it off.

My new favorite place

Through the recommendation of a friend of mine, I have found my new, favorite "toy store" in Central Oregon. Swift and McCormick Metal is it's name and heaping piles of scrap metal is their game. I didn't realize the immensity of the place after walking around for a while searching for any little piece of the puzzle I might be able to use, but then my brain suddenly started to ache. I usually have a short list of a few particular items I'm looking for, but when scanning over the "literally millions" of pieces of metal that reside there my mind starts going wild with ideas for future projects. This only leads to a mental meltdown, which quickly forces me to narrow my search back to that original list I brought along. This place probably isn't everyone's cup of tea, but for me it's a labyrinth of treasures.

More Photo Frames!

Here is the latest batch of photo frames to come out of the garage. I've been using every cm of this wood I found a while back at the Rebuilding Center in Portland. Going to be tough to find something as cool...

I'm finally starting to figure out my "production line" sense of building here in the garage. Things have become a little bit more efficient which in turn lets me focus on the creative side of things and worry less about just getting them built. Here are some of my most recent finished items.

Noah @ Shevlin Park

I had a Portland visitor in town for a photo session last weekend. Noah, with mom and dad in tow, came to town for some semi annual photos. I've photographed this little guy for several years now and he always makes for a fun and entertaining subject. Chasing him around for an hour definitely keeps me on my toes, but the end result is always rewarding. See you soon, Noah!
